Mission
The mission of Thurgood Marshall Elementary is to develop a community of learners and build a strong foundation for each student's academic success and emotional well being through challenging curricula and experiences, all of which are the shared responsibility of students, parents, staff members, and community.

Thurgood Marshall Elementary (TME) is one of 56 accredited schools in the Chesapeake (VA) Public School System.  Named after the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall, TME opened its doors in 1996 replacing Park Elementary in the Campostella section of South Norfolk. For nearly a decade, TME has been preparing tomorrow's tigers for their place as responsible citizens of an ever-changing international community.
