The library media center is open every day for students to return and check out new books as needed. Students may visit the library during Express Checkout or during their regularly scheduled library period.

Students are responsible for lost or damaged library books. Damaged books should not be mended at home. Please return them to the library media center for repair. If a book is damaged beyond repair, the replacement price of the book will be charged.  Overdue fines are not charged for late books. However, a student’s circulation privileges may be suspended if overdue books are not returned or if lost/damage fees are pending.

Our library media center serves over 400 patrons (PS-Grade 5). It contains more than 10,000 print and non-print materials. Our library media specialist is Angie Smith, and our part time clerk is Jackie Hathaway.

A combination of weekly scheduled library periods and open library provide the library media specialist with the opportunity to instill in children a love of literature and teach them skills to access information from print and nonprinting resources. The Virginia Standards of Learning are an integral part of the library skills lessons.

The ability to locate and use information is the key to becoming a lifelong learner. This is the library media center’s goal for our students and staff members. It is also our desire to promote the benefits and enjoyment of reading.  The library media specialist administers and supports the Accelerated Reader Program that is networked throughout the building. Students read books from a special list, take short multiple-choice quizzes.
