Rules For Students

(General Information)

RULES FOR STUDENTS

1. Get ready to learn by 7:50 a.m.

 2. Organize yourself for the day – including copying your homework

3. Have materials and completed assignments for the class every day. 

4. Always follow directions

5. Walk and work at the appropriate noise levels.

6. Keep hands, feet, body, and objects to yourself.

 7. Show respect to others and yourself.

 

 A referral to the office is usually the last resort for the classroom teacher and should be used when the teacher has done all she can do to help the student. No child should be referred to the office for repeated disruptions until the classroom teacher has communicated his/her concerns to the parent. Unacceptable behaviors that warrant immediate referral to the principal's office include the following: 1. Chronic lying, stealing, or cheating 2. Deliberate destruction of school or personal property 3. Abusing (verbally and/or physically) a student or staff member. Students sent to the office for severe misbehavior or as a result of continued classroom disruptions will be subject to one of the following administrative consequences depending upon the severity and frequency of referrals: 

1. Conference with administrator

2. Discipline referral form to be signed and returned the next day 

3. Telephone contact with parent 

4. Parent conference 

5. Suspension and parent contact with an administrator before the student is allowed to return to class

 

Bus Rules

 Riding the bus is a privilege which carries with it certain responsibilities.  Students are expected to display proper conduct on the bus as outlined in the Chesapeake Public Schools Regulations for Pupils Riding School Buses (in the packet which is sent home on the first day of school).
   Misbehavior on the bus may result in bus riding privileges being suspended.
