Out of School Projects

(General Information)

Out-Of-School Projects and Enrichment Activities

Occasionally teachers assign out of school projects as an opportunity for students to show what they have learned and to demonstrate their individual creativity. Usually the completed project includes a class presentation and/or a written report.  All components of the project will be graded.

  •  Teachers will provide to each student clear and specific written instructions with the purpose of the project clearly stated.  The project will be a learning component of some academic aspect of the grade level requirements.

  • Students will not be penalized because they lack necessary materials to complete assignments.

  • Teachers will make suggestions or recommendations for obtaining project materials that require minimal or no cost.

  • Criteria for project evaluation will be clearly stated when the project is assigned.  Reasonable and definite time limits for project completion will be given as well as follow-up reminders of deadline dates.  Penalties will be imposed for projects turned in late.  If the project is not turned in within two weeks from the due date, the student will receive a zero.
