Field
Trips
Occasionally
our students take field trips. Field
trips are a part of the student's
instructional day and are directly related to classroom instruction and the
Standards of Learning. There are
follow-up activities in the classroom for every field trip; therefore, students
are required to attend. Field trips
are not designed for entertainment, and they are not meant to be family outings.
Chaperones are selected by the teacher.
All adults who accompany students on a field trip do so in a supervisory
capacity under the leadership of the teacher.
Only the parent or legal guardian may be used as chaperones.
No children other than those students in the class may attend field
trips.
All
parents are notified in advance of field trips and a permission form is sent
home. No student is allowed to leave on a trip unless the teacher
has a permission slip signed by the parent.
Departure times are clearly indicated in the letter that is sent home;
buses will not wait for students who arrive after the designated departure time.
Please don't
set your child up for disappointment by arriving to school late on the day of a
field trip. If classes return from
a field trip after school has been dismissed, it is important for parents to
pick their children up at the designated time.
Refunds for field trips will not be made because reservations
are made in advance, and the cost of the trip is determined by the number of
students and adults attending.
