Welcome to Great Bridge Intermediate School where our motto is "Goals Are High at GBI."  This motto was suggested and voted on by students when the school was built in 1991.  Students, faculty, and parents believe that an effective partnership is necessary for productive learning to take place.  We seek to provide a strong basic skills curriculum in the most enriched environment possible.

Our curriculum begins with the Virginia Standards of Learning and the Chesapeake Public Schools course of study.  We also expand into areas of enrichment.  Each year our school adopts an overall educational theme.  Previous themes have included the environment, aerospace, the United States, the United Nations, government, etc.  Our instructional theme this year is “Where in the World is Willie the Wildcat?”

Great Bridge Intermediate now serves students in grades three, four, and five.  We have a comprehensive program of technology with multiple networked computers in each classroom, a networked computer lab, portable laptops, SMART Technologies, media center, and a television studio.  Music, art, and physical education are emphasized in our curriculum.  Volunteer faculty members offer after school clubs in a number of areas.
