Scholarship Information

Any senior who plans to continue his or her education after high school should be actively searching for scholarships! Scholarship money is available not only for attending a university; many organizations will award money to students who plan to attend trade school or community college.

Any organization that sends scholarship information to Great Bridge High School is advertised for seniors as a PDF at the Guidance "Help Desk" on the GBHS website and scholarship notebooks. A copy of the scholarship notebook can be found in the media center, ACCESS office, and guidance office. If seniors see scholarships for which they are qualified and want to apply, they should see Mrs. Lenhart to request more information and/or applications.

Only scholarship information that is sent to GBHS is advertised, so it is very important for seniors NOT to rely completely on the notebook for finding scholarship money.

Colleges and other postsecondary schools will have scholarship money to award, so seniors should contact schools they are interested in attending for more information. Employers may also have scholarship money to award.

TIPS

  • Keep a current list of extracurricular activities and update as changes occur.
  • Give teachers, counselors, administrators, employers, and any other recommendation writers at least five (5) days prior notice in order to compose a well-written recommendation.
  • Ask at least three teachers to write a letter for you. Submit your request in writing. Include your name, type of letter required (scholarship, college application), date letter is needed, and a current list of activities or resume.
  • Be sure scholarship applications are neat and all instructions have been followed.

Good Luck!
