| The Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology was built in 1967 at a cost of $1.5 million. It was then called the Chesapeake Technical Center and it was the first trade school in Virginia for high school students. Now 33 years old, CCST has changed, but not much. | ||
Hands On, Head First, Into the Future! This is the first thing you see when entering the Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology. Dr. Daniel Graves posted the school’s theme on the wall in 1990. Along with this adopted school theme a school mascot was dubbed. When Mrs. Jane Garner, the principal at the time, returned from vacation in 1991, her lawn had mysteriously grown dozens of pink flamingo lawn ornaments. When news of the strange occurrence had made its way around school everyone thought it was very humorous. But a couple of days later the very same thing happened right here at CCST. Dozens of pink flamingo lawn ornaments mysteriously found their way onto the school’s front lawn. Even today we still hear tales of pink flamingo sightings. |
